The objective of the mission was to provide economically disadvantaged patients with free surgical coverage , who successfully completed between November 29 and December 10, 2004, having made a total of 53 major surgical procedures.
The most frequent interventions were the sequelae of burns and trauma. Numerous interventions were performed in patients younger than 7 years with severe burn scarring evolved. Adult patients showed a large number of sequels of trauma to limbs, most of them not having received any previous treatment.

The program was developed in the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital, located in Nakuru, invited by Dr. Peter O'Duor.
Dr. Peter O'Duor was the host and organizer of the mission, bringing patients during the months preceding and preparing the final surgical program.
The surgical program was accompanied by the dispatch of 120 kg of medical supplies and surgical and anesthetic and training sessions for the host team.
The Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital is a health center with a minimum allocations necessary for surgery. There are five operating rooms available. Although the equipment is old, sterile measures allow the performance of procedures of intermediate complexity, and duration preferably less than 4 or 5 hours.
The duration of the mission was been two weeks, during which they reviewed among others, cases of sequelae of burns and trauma, congenital malformations of the hands and genitals. In particular, we drew attention to cases and Lilian Chepkwony and Caroline Atieno.

CAROLINE ATIENO
Caroline is 21 years old, belongs to the Luo tribe and lives in Kisumu. He suffers from epilepsy.
Four years ago, during an epileptic seizure, fell over a fire and suffered 3rd degree burns on the face, including forehead, eyelids, cheek, lips, nose and right ear. He has lost vision completely in the right eye.
Your husband left her because of her facial deformity. He lives with a friend, and she covers her face with hair.
Her case is complex and requires successive interventions. In this mission we have proceeded to release scar contractures that prevented him from closing the eyelids and treat chronic exposure keratitis. In future missions, we plan to rebuild the ear and sequelae in cleft lip and nose.
